Don’t forget that the transportation industry consists of a number of sub industries, each which extensively use robots.

 Air Freight & Logistics

Airlines

Marine

Road & Rail

Transportation Infrastructure (which includes Air Freight & Logistics, Airlines, Marine and Road & Rail)

As some of the most popular robots being used in this sector comes down to those that can move materials around, so AGVs and AMRs are in use. An AGV is an automated guided vehicle and an AMR is an autonomous mobile robot.

AGVs are small, flatbed vehicles which are guided by magnets, or wires, and follow a strictly prescribed route. If they meet an obstacle, they stop. They cannot re-route. AMRs look the same, but the big difference is that an AMR has a greater ability to navigate itself, using AI and 2D/3D vision to get around a building, avoiding obstacles as they go.

AGV suppliers include:

Comau

Mitsubishi Logisnext Europe

System Logistics

Toyota Material Handling Europe

Weissenburg Industrie-Technik Maschinenbau

China Shipbuilding

Comau China

Doosan Corporation

Formosa Heavy Industries

Mitsubishi Logisnext

Murata Machinery

SCOTT Automation & Robotics

Taiwan Warehouse Solutions

America in Motion

Atlantic Packaging (formerly CIMS)

The Raymond Corporation

Transbotics

Many of the above are involved with AMRs. Also, companies who supply AMRs, see below, also supply AGVs:
